Defender of our oral health

Saliva is the main body fluid which spreads the coronavirus when we talk, laugh, cough or sneeze. Physical distancing is important because the closer you are, the bigger the spray of large droplets while tiny droplets can reach you up to 4 metres away.

But while saliva is a reflection of the body’s disease status, it’s also the defender of our oral health. Saliva stimulated when chewing is 60 times more powerful than resting saliva when it comes to neutralising acids from foods, plaque, dry mouth and reflux which damage teeth.

So chew your meals well and chew sugarfree gum or raw foods between meals to stimulate saliva production for better teeth protection.
