Slogans can be misleading
We see packaged foods with appealing slogans that say nature’s own or nice & natural but are they really good for our dental and overall health?
Packaged foods often contain added or hidden sugars under different names so we may consume more than we think.
There are over 50 kinds of sugar and the colour makes no difference – white sugar, brown sugar, raw sugar, honey and maple syrup are predominantly comprised of sucrose, glucose and fructose molecules.
Product ingredients are listed by quantity from the largest quantity to the smallest so if any kind of sugar is listed in the first 3 ingredients, consider it a dessert.
